I quit

About 4 or 5 months ago, I did something new.

After 13 years, I quit my job.

I didn’t have another job lined up. I didn’t even have a plan. I just got sick of the politics and the stress of being the one who got all the stuff everyone else was too lazy to do. So, I just quit. I resigned. I left the company.

Prysmian Group was the company.

I did put my two weeks notice in. I was nice about it. I did what I could to setup success for the one who replaced me. I even said I’d be there to give advice if they ever needed it.

They’ve never needed it. And most of my co-workers there are more or less not speaking to me. I figured it would be like that. The guy who did all the shit work left with the shit work going back to everyone else.

I hated that job with a passion. I wish the company the best success possible but I hated the job from day one.

I took a month off. I had fun every day. I enjoyed the break. I’ve never even taken a week vacation in all my working history and I was finally able to take on.

Then I asked around for work.

A friend helped me out and I got a new job that equated to the pay I got at Prysmian and it is 15 minutes from my house. Oh yeah, Prysmian was 1.5 hours away. I drove 3 hours a day in a full-size truck. The driving stressed me out the most.

Now I work in a job that I love. I look forward to going to work every day. I’m doing things that I’ve always been passionate about. I love every part of it.

Quitting Prysmian was the best thing I’ve ever done as far as a career goes.

I reflect on this every day.
